OUR SUSTAINABILITY JOURNEY
HERE AT RIVER RATS RAFT AND KAYAK WE MAKE OUR LIVING THROUGH THE ENVIRONMENT.
OUR AIM IS TO HAVE AS LITTLE IMPACT ON IT AS POSSIBLE AND TO POSITIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO OUR COMMUNITY.
River Rats are foundation members of the Rotorua Sustainable Charter.
The charter is a step by step approach, working to achieve environmental and social sustainability in local businesses.
River Rats owner Justin Hutton has served for many years on the charter management committee and is currently the Chairman.
River Rats have been members for over 25 years and have always tried to act in a sustainable manner. But now we are on a journey to take this to the next level, to not just be a sustainable business but a regenerative business and to leave our environment in a better state as a result of our operation.
We are committed to a sustainable future and to improving the social, economic and environmental well-being of our community.
We are proud to be signatories to Tourism Industry Associations Tourism Sustainability Commitment.
We are committed to being Carbon Neutral by 2025
We are proud to support Predator Free Okere Falls, an initiative to eradicate introduced pests in the Okere Falls Scenic Reserve
We have sponsored predator free Okere Falls, an initiative to eradicate introduced pests in the Okere Falls Scenic reserve and we donate thousands of dollars in vouchers annually to various community organisations.
